The Sayyed received in Holy Mecca groups of pilgrims from Iraq, Bahrain, America, and Australia
Sayyed Fadlullah: We are living under the hardest circumstances; we can only regain our power through the unity of the Shiites and the Sunnis
His Eminence, the Religious Authority Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, said that the current period is one of the most difficult ones Islam and the Muslims have passed through in terms of the political challenges and the war waged against Islam, its concepts and ideological system, in addition to the attempts made by the arrogant powers to create a rift among Muslims using all means within reach. He also affirmed that the Muslims cannot preserve their power unless they unite, both Sunnis and Shiites, and agree to support their causes aside from partisan and confessional sensitivities. His Eminence stressed the need to reinforce national unity in Iraq, drive the occupiers out of the country, and prevent them from settling in the "Land of the Two Rivers".
On the first day of his arrival to Holy Mecca, His Eminence, the Religious Authority Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlullah received a group of pilgrims coming from the United States and the Islamic communities in Australia, along with Iraqi and Bahraini pilgrims. "His Eminence addressed the pilgrims on the Sira of the Prophet [p] [the Life of the Prophet [p]] and the challenges he faced alongside his family and companions while spreading the message of Islam under the hardest circumstances.
He also talked about how the Prophet [p] faced those who wanted to foil his Da'wah [call] and deterred the atheists and their enemies, and encountered the economic pressures they practiced and their attempts to isolate him socially, until his Da'wah prevailed and the Arabs entered the religion of Allah in companies.
His Eminence said we should benefit from the Sira of the Prophet [The Life of Prophet Mohammad], affirming that Islam would not have reached that level of power without internal unity."His Eminence stressed that under these difficult circumstances, Muslims need to reinforce their unity and consider the causes of their nations aside from confessional complications. Many sides within the Islamic sects were preoccupied with confessional feelings and their narrow interests instead of working for the nation's causes and their general Islamic context, apart from sectarian, partisan and personal frameworks. "His Eminence also said that the Muslims, both Sunnis and Shiites should be inspired by the general course and movement of the prophet [p], aside from the small details and headlines in which the sects' followers are involved and which are about to become indisputable and unquestionable constants. Thus, the Islamic reality lost its vividness and genuine movement and the freedom which Islam highlighted, aside from exchanging accusations and holding others as non-believers."His Eminence said: "The current period is one of the hardest Islam has passed through, in terms of the major political complications engulfing the Islamic reality, especially since the arrogant powers insist on provoking intra-Islamic rifts to disperse the Islamic forces and fragment their communities. These arrogant powers also seek to fight Islam and its ideological principles and concepts and religious values and ethical system. Therefore, the pilgrimage season should underscore the Islamic unity, which fine-tunes the movement of the Muslims in terms of their causes and the needs of the nation, which should always be above the calculations of any sects and the aspirations of any person…"His Eminence received a number of Islamic figures, namely Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Baker al-Nasiri, which headed a scholarly delegation and discussed with the Sayyed a number of Islamic issues. They also reviewed the Iraqi situation from all its aspects and stressed the need to safeguard the Islamic unity and Iraq's national unity in order to expel the occupiers who intend to outflank the Iraqis after the change of circumstances and facts. His Eminence, the Religious Authority Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlullah said the Islamic public and national forces should continue to apply pressures on the occupier in order to show that Iraq is not an appropriate place for its arrogant imperial project, until this occupier is completely driven out of the "Land of the Two Rivers". "His Eminence, the Sayyed, received a delegation of Al-Najaf scholars headed by Sayyed Sadeq al-Tabrisi and discussed issues in relation to the Al-Najaf Hawzah [religious school] and the ideological and cultural challenges it is facing, in addition to other Islamic and religious issues.
