The Jews claim that they truly believe in the Holy Book. This is a new line of the deviation of those who were given a portion of the book. They should be balanced in their relations on the basis of people's proximity to and deviation from faith. The concepts consolidated by the Book should become the rule to support whom they support and reject whom they reject. He who has a faith and belief works on reinforcing his faith in life. This is through meeting, even though midway, with those who identify with his concepts, as opposed to those who absolutely drift away. Their relations with Muslims should have been close. Their concepts should have met with Islam's concepts. They should stand next to each other in their battle against the atheists. It is one battle, where atheism is in one camp, and faith is in another. But the issue was the complete opposite. The Jews stood by the Muslims' enemies and aligned with them. They started weaving joint conspiracies against Islam and Muslims.
Allah Almighty says: "Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture? They believe in superstition and false objects of worship." (An-Nisa, 04:51). The Holy Quran addressed the matter on the basis that they do not believe in the Holy Book. This Book has become a mere slogan they use to mislead the people. It is a commodity they trade in the markets of loss and gain. They believe in the idols which refer to a God that is not Allah. False deities are an expression of tyranny in authority and order. They believe in this in reality when they practice tyranny and delusion. Their own practices involve false deities and misguidance. Thus, their history was that of tyranny, in their ideology, relations, and work. They used to face divine religions with denial, and prophets with aggression. They faced the peace-seeking life with wars.
Their belief in idols and false deities extended to their unjust deviated position in distinguishing the Muslims from the atheists, "and say about those who disbelieve" (An-Nisa, 04:51). They used to say about the atheists who worship idols and do not believe in Allah's religion: "These are better guided than the believers as to the way." (An-Nisa, 04:51). They are better guided than those who believe. Those who believe announce their faith in Allah and His divine books and prophets. They believe in the Torah and Bible and all their legislations. How could the Jews do this? They understand the Holy Book as an ideology, doctrine, and a legislation. It is the logic of disbelief which takes the faith in the book as a cover. It hides its hatred, evilness, and darkness. It is a frame whose pictures have fallen down. It seeks to embrace any new photo under the name of the real photo. This is through misguiding, fake, and misleading manners.
We could find many of those patterns among the people. They consider principles and ideas and religions as a framework. It represents their belonging to the general appearance and isolates their lives from the content. This is similar to the reality of the Jews. Their political practices are under the slogan of the Torah, while they do not believe in this Torah. It is also the reality of some Christian political groups. They try to use the Christian sentiments as a slogan. They do not believe in the Christian values brought by the Bible in their relations. We can also find such patterns among some Muslim political groups. They take Islam as a cover, hiding their personal and regional ambitions. Their positions and relations are based on their interests, not principles. Therefore, they prefer the interests of the disbelievers over the interests of those who believe. This is driven by their own interests, or sick psychological complexes that confront the meanings of faith.
We only need to look at their reality. We must know the Quranic truth as a means of Islamic education. It pushes the people to understand the reality through their rational vision. This vision is open to people and things, according to the Islamic vision of life. Thus, life to someone who believes is an arena for comprehensive knowledge. He must know everything around him, thus moving away from naivety. He must look at the core of things, as well as their crust.
Those who follow a double standard way of life, between what they claim and what they practice, "They are the ones whom Allah has cursed; and he whom Allah curses - never will you find for him a helper." (An-Nisa, 04:52). These people were cursed by Allah. He kept them away from His mercy and pardon. How can He not keep them away from His mercy? They offend the principles which they say are inspired by Allah. Allah is only close to the good people whose practices and ideas are good. What is the point of people rallying behind someone, if Allah himself wants to abandon him? He will feel that loneliness devours his internal security. When he sits alone with himself, he will feel lonely. Allah is in control of people and things. Everything is within His hands. People cannot benefit or harm themselves. Their relations are based on their humanitarian weakness. This revolves around greediness, desires, fears, and other weak points. Therefore, he who feels he is with Allah feels strong. This is even if no one is around him, and even if all the people are against him. Imam Ali (a.s.) was pursuing the path of righteousness even though he was walking alone. He said: "Having too many people around me does not increase my feeling of pride, nor does their disperse make me feel lonelier." In his will to his son, he (a.s.) said: "Do not associate with anything except the right. And do not be desolated except by falsehood." And he (a.s.) used to tell people: "Take the course of good and do not feel lonely because of the fewness of those who have taken this."
