Ghusl

Ghusl

The obligatory Ghusl after the menses, Janaba , or else, and the other recommended or mandatory washing (Ghusl) are as follows:

First: purify the impure organs, such as the genitals and others, by pouring water on them until no more impurity exists. It is acceptable to use soap before or after that.

Second: remove from the body any sticky substances that prevent water from reaching the skin, such as the Band-Aid and the tight ring on the finger and the like. Moreover, the thin sticky substances on the skin, such as the nail polish, paint, cosmetics, and the like, are not required to be removed, and it is acceptable to perform Ghusl while they are on. However, it is preferred to remove them from the face and the rest of the body, especially if they could be easily removed.

Third: We make the intention of washing to draw ourselves nearer to Allah (either in our minds or verbally).
Fourth: We wash the head and the neck, including the hair, once by placing them under the shower or by pouring water on them from a pot. It is not necessary to rub them with the hand.
Fifth: We wash the rest of the body; that is, the left and right sides, together, or each at a time, from the neck until the end of the legs, once. It is not necessary to rub it with the hand, or start from above; i.e. the shoulders. Actually, it is acceptable to start from anywhere, because what matters is to wash both sides in any means possible. In addition, it is not obligatory to start from the right side, although it is preferred.
