The Juristic Office of the Institution of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra), issued a statement concerning the beginning of the month of Zoul-Qi'dah, 1445H. Following is the text of the statement:
The new crescent (central conjunction) for the month of Zoul-Qi'dah, will be born on Wednesday May 8, 2024, at 3:22 (GMT) that is 6:22 Beirut time.
As noticed in the attached picture, sighting on Wednesday evening is easily possible by the naked eye in North and Central America. It is also possible to be sighted by the naked eye, provided the weather is clear and the viewer is experienced in some parts of North America and the northern part of South America. It can also be sighted by the armed eye in some parts of South America .Therefore, Thursday 9/5/ 2024 is the first day of the month of Zoul Qi'dah in the regions that share a part of the night with the sighting regions, in both western and eastern hemispheres according to the jurisprudential opinion of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra)which deems it sufficient to determine the beginning of the month the sharing of a part of the night with the regions where sighing is possible whether with the naked or armed eye.
