The new crescent of the month of Rabi' al-Thani for the year 1448 AH (central conjunction) will be born on Friday, the eleventh of September for the year 2026 AD, at 03:27 a.m. GMT, which is 06:27 a.m. according to the summer time of the city of Beirut.
As noted in the above-mentioned picture, sighting the new crescent on Friday evening (the night of Saturday), September 11, 2026, is possible with the naked eye subject to clear skies and observer expertise, in the southern part of South America. It is also possible with the armed eye, in the northeastern part of South America, some regions of North America, and parts of the southern part of Africa. Therefore, Saturday, September 12, 2026, will be the first day of the month of Rabi' al-Thani 1448 AH.
This is according to the jurisprudential opinion of his Eminence, the Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra), who views that the month begins if it is possible to sight the crescent in any region of the world, provided that we share a part of the night with it, without difference between sighting with the naked eye and with the armed eye.
