Allah, The Most Exalted, has created man to live a certain limited age. "Every soul will taste death..." (Surah Al 'Imran - 3:185). "Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die." (Surah Az-Zumar - 39:30). "But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come." (Surah Al-Munafiqun - 63:11).
Life is a journey that starts at birth. It moves daily through one’s lifetime. It is burdened by the weight of the years. Man consumes a piece of his life each day. He finishes all the food that Allah has put in his hands. This is a tiresome and exhausting trip. It ends with death. Death concludes the period of work. This period represents his responsibility. It is his role that Allah has prepared for him.
After death, he will face the outcomes of this responsibility. He will receive the reward for his good deeds. He will face the punishment for his bad deeds. It is the day of truth. Allah will reward the good doers and punish the evil doers. This makes life purposeful. It prevents man's creation from being absurd. This world is a place where man acts. He will reap the results of his work in the Afterlife. This is Divine justice. It gives each servant his right based on God's right to be obeyed. It holds him responsible for his duties. This is based on the meaning of bondage to Allah. It requires abstaining from sin in accordance with God’s will.
It is the justice of the Lord. His names have risen to the highest degree of greatness. No one else can reach it. He is pure of any deficiency.
He is the one whose successive graces on all creatures are numerous. His servants cannot understand the reasons behind His deeds. They do not have the right to know the secrets of the Divine Self. They do not have the right to ask Him why He did what He did. This would imply they have the right to know His motivations. It would mean they could judge if a Divine deed is right or wrong. All this is unattainable for the creature.
He is the God that possesses man entirely. The human being does not have the right to question His actions. It is not for man to object to any of His acts. Belief in Allah suggests He is wise in everything He does. He is just in all He decrees. It is impossible for Him to do anything without a purpose. He is perfect in Himself. It is impossible for Him to do wrong. Such a question is meaningless. It is an objection that contradicts the knowledge of Allah's perfection.
He is the Lord Who created His servants. He held them responsible for what they say and do. This is based on their bondage to Him. Their existence by nature submits to Him. It is His right to question them. He said in His Glorious Book: "And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." (Surah As-Saffat - 37:24)
In explaining His saying: "He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned," (Surah Al-Anbiya - 21:23), Imam As-Sadiq (a.s.) said: "He is not asked because He only does what is wise and right... If anyone finds any uneasiness in anything He decreed, he would have disbelieved. And he who refutes any of His deeds would have denied the truth."
