Monday is the first day of Safar 1446

The Juristic Office of the Institution of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra), issued a statement concerning the beginning of the month of Safar, 1446H. Following is the text of the statement:

The new crescent (central conjunction) for the month of Safar, 1446H will be born on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 11:13 (GMT) that is 14:13 Beirut time.
As noticed in the attached picture sighting is possible by the armed eye in some parts of the two Americas on Sunday evening, Thus Monday, 05/08/2024 is the first day of Safar in all parts that share a part of the night with the sighting regions, and Tuesday 06/08/2024 in the parts that do not, according to the jurisprudential opinion of His Eminence the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra) who deems it enough to sight the crescent, whether by the naked eye or by the aid of telescopes, in any region with which we share a part of the night.

We ask Allah, The Most Exalted, to grant us success in what pleases Him. He is the Most Merciful.
