The Juristic Office of the Institution of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra), issued a statement concerning the beginning of the month of Rajab, 1445H. Following is the text of the statement:
The new crescent (central conjunction) for the month of Rajab, 1445H will be born on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:57 (GMT), that is 13:57 Beirut time.
As noticed in the attached picture sighting is possible by the armed eyes in several regions on Thursday evening, in most of the regions of South America, which are regions with which we share a part of the night. Thus Friday 12/1/2024 is the first day of Rajab in the regions that share a part of the nights with the regions of sighting and Saturday January 13, is the first of Rajab to the other regions, according to the jurisprudential opinion of His Eminence the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra) who deems it enough to sight the crescent, whether by the naked eye or by the aid of telescopes, in any region with which we share a part of the night. In addition, on Friday night, the new crescent can be easily seen by the naked eye in all the regions of North and South America, Africa and other regions.
We invoke Allah, the Most Exalted, at the beginning of this month, to bestow on us His Mercy, and to make it a month of victory and joy to this nation. He is the Hearing, and the Knowing.
