The Juristic Office of the Institution of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra), issued a statement concerning the beginning of the month of Zul Hijja, 1445H. Following is the text of the statement:
The new crescent (central conjunction) for the month of Zul Hijja, will be born on Thursday June 6,2024, at 12:38 (GMT); that is 15:38 Beirut time.
As noticed in the attached picture, sighting on Thursday evening is possible by the naked eye in Western coast of North America. It is also possible to be sighted by the armed eye in several parts of North America and Canada, which are regions we share a part with .Therefore, Friday 7/6/ 2024 is the first day of the month of Zul Hijja in the regions that share a part of the night with the sighting areas, and Sunday the 16th of June is the Adha Eid. Moreover, Saturday. The 8th of June 2024, is the first day of Zul Hijja in the regions that do not share a part of the night with, according to the jurisprudential opinion of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra) which deems it sufficient to determine the beginning of the month the sharing of a part of the night with the regions where sighing is possible, whether with the naked or armed eye.
We ask Allah, The Most Exalted, to accept our deeds and return this Eid with His blessings and mercy and grant us His victory over the enemy and to relief us from all afflictions. He is Omnipotent and the Most Merciful
