In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Bismilahir-Rahmanir-Rahim
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
O Allah, to You belongs praise for the good health of my body which lets me move about, and to You belongs praise, for the ailments which You cause to arise in my flesh!
Allahumma lakal-hamdu 'ala ma lam azal atasarrafu feehi min salamati badanee, wa lakal-hamdu 'ala ma ahdatha bee min 'illatin fee jasadee.
أَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَى مَا لَمْ أَزَلْ أَتَصَرَّفُ فِيهِ مِنْ سَلَامَةِ بَدَنِي، وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَى مَا أَحْدَثْتَ بِيْ مِنْ عِلَّة فِي جَسَـدِي.
For I know not, my God, which of the two states deserves more my thanking to You and which of the two times is more worthy for my praise of You:
Fama adree ya Ilahi, ayyul-halayni ahaqqu bish-shukri lak? wa ayyul-waqtayni awla bil-hamdi lak?
فَمَا أَدْرِي يَـا إِلَهِي، أَيُّ الْحَالَيْنِ أَحَقُّ بِالشُّكْرِ لَكَ، وَأَيُّ الْوَقْتَيْنِ أوْلَى بِالْحَمْدِ لَكَ،
the time of health, within which You make me delight in the agreeable things of Your provision, through which You give me the joy to seek the means to Your good pleasure and bounty, and by which You strengthen me for the acts of obedience which You have given me success to accomplish; or the time of illness through which You put me to the test
Awaqtus-sihhatil-latee hannaytanee feeha tayyibati rizqik wa nashshattanee biha liabtigha'i mardhatika wa fadlik wa qawwaytanee ma'aha 'ala ma waffaqtanee lahu min ta'atik? am waqtul-'illatil-latee mahhastanee biha,
أَوَقْتُ الصِّحَةِ الَّتِي هَنَّـأْتَنِي فِيهَا طَيِّبَاتِ رِزْقِكَ، وَنَشَّطْتَنِي بِهَا لِابْتِغاءِ مَرْضَاتِكَ وَفَضْلِكَ، وَقَوَّيْتَنِي مَعَهَا عَلَى مَـا وَفَّقْتَنِي لَهُ مِنْ طَـاعَتِـكَ أَمْ وَقْتُ الْعِلَّةِ الَّتِي مَحَّصْتَنِي بِهَا،
and bestow upon me favors: Lightening of the offenses that weigh down my back, Purification of the evil deeds into which I have plunged, Incitement to reach for repentance, reminder of the erasure of misdeeds
wan-ni'amil-lateee athaf-tanee biha? Takhfeefal-lima thaqula 'ala dahree min al-khat-ee'at wa tat-heeral-liman-ghamastu feehi minas-sayyi'at wa tanbeehal-litanawul it-tawbah, wa tadhkeeral-limahwil-hawbati
وَالنِّعَمِ الَّتِي أَتْحَفْتَنِي بِهَا تَخْفِيفاً لِمَا ثَقُلَ بِهِ عَلَى ظَهْرِي مِنَ الْخَطِيئَاتِ وَتَطْهِيراً لِمَا انْغَمَسْتُ فِيهِ مِنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ، وَتَنْبِيهاً لِتَنَاوُلِ التَّوْبَةِ، وَتَذْكِيراً لِمَحْوِ الْحَوْبَةِ
through ancient favor; and, through all that, what the two writers write for me: blameless acts, which no heart had thought, no tongue had uttered, and no limb had undertaken, rather, as Your bestowal of bounty upon me and the beneficence of Your benefaction toward me
biqadeemin-ni'mah; wa fee khilali dhalika ma kataba lee al-katibani min zakiyil-a'mal, ma la qalbun fakkara feeh, wa la lisanun nataqa bih, wa la jarihatun takallafat-h, bal ifdhalan minka 'alay, wa ihsanan min sanee'ika ilay.
بِقَدِيمِ النِّعْمَةِ، وَفِي خِلَالِ ذَلِكَ مَا كَتَبَ لِيَ الْكَاتِبَانِ مِنْ زَكِيِّ الْأَعْمَالِ، مَا لَا قَلْبٌ فَكَّرَ فِيهِ، وَلَا لِسَانٌ نَطَقَ بِهِ وَلَا جَارِحَةٌ تَكَلَّفَتْهُ بَلْ إِفْضَالاً مِنْكَ عَلَيَّ، وَإِحْسَاناً مِنْ صَنِيعِـكَ إِلَيَّ.
O Allah, Bless Muhammad and his Household, Let me love what You have approved for me, Make easy for me what You have sent down upon me,
Allahumma fa salli 'ala Muhammadin wa aalih, wa habbib ilayya ma radheetalee, wa yassir lee ma ahlalta bee,
أَللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّـد وَآلِـهِ وَحَبِّبْ إِلَيّ مَـا رَضِيتَ لِي، وَيَسِّرْ لِي مَا أَحْلَلْتَ بِيْ،
Purify me of the defilement of what I have sent ahead, Erase the evil of what I have done beforehand, Let me find the sweetness of well-being, let me taste the coolness of safety, and appoint for me a way out from my illness to Your pardon, transformation of my infirmity into Your forbearance,
wa tahhirnee min danasi ma aslaft, w amhoo 'annee sharra ma qaddamtu, wa awjidnee halawat al-'aafiyah, wa adhiqnee bardas-salamah, w aj'al makhrajee 'an 'illatee ila 'afwik, wa mutahawwalee 'an sar'atee ila tajawuzik,
وَطَهِّرْنِي مِنْ دَنَسِ مَا أَسْلَفْتُ، وَامْحُ عَنِّي شَرَّ مَا قَـدَّمْتُ، وَأَوْجِدْنِي حَلَاوَةَ الْعَافِيَةِ، وَأَذِقْنِي بَرْدَ السَّلَامَةِ وَاجْعَلْ مَخْرَجِي عَنْ عِلَّتِي إِلَى عَفْوِكَ، وَمُتَحَوَّلِي عَنْ صَرْعَتِي إِلَى تَجَاوُزِكَ،
Escape from my distress to Your refreshment, and safety from this hardship in Your relief! You are gratuitously bountiful in beneficence, ever gracious in kindness, The Generous, The Giver,
Possessor of Majesty and Munificence!
wa khalas ee min karbee ila rawhik, wa salamatee min hadhihish-shiddati ila farajik. Innaka al-mutafaddhilu bil-ihsan, al-mutatawwilu bil-imtinan, al-wahhabul-kareem, dhul-jalali wal-ikram.
وَخَلَاصِي مِنْ كَرْبِي إِلَى رَوْحِكَ، وَسَلَامَتِي مِنْ هَذِهِ الشِّدَّةِ إِلَى فَرَجِكَ، إِنَّكَ الْمُتَفَضِّلُ بِالْإِحْسَانِ، الْمُتَطَوِّلُ بِالْاِمْتِنَانِ، الْوَهَّابُ الْكَرِيمُ، ذُوالْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ.
