Statement of the Religious Authority Office at the Institution of the Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra), regarding the Beginning of the Blessed Month of Zoul-Qi'da 1447 AH:
The new crescent of the month of Zoul-Qi'da for the year 1447 AH (central conjunction) will be born on Friday, the seventeenth of the month of April for the year 2026 AD. The birth will occur at 11:52 a.m. GMT, which is 2:52 p.m. according to the summer time of the city of Beirut.
As noted in the above-mentioned image, sighting the new crescent (the crescent of Zoul-Qi'da) on Friday evening (the night of Saturday) is possible in regions with which we share a part of the night. Sighting is possible with the naked eye, subject to clear skies and observer expertise, in areas such as the northwestern part of North America. Sighting is also possible with the armed eye in vast regions of Central and North America.
Given that Friday is the thirtieth day of the month of Shawwal, in addition to what is mentioned above, Saturday, April 18, will be the first day of the month of Zoul-Qi'da 1447 AH.
This is according to the jurisprudential opinion of his Eminence, the Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra). He views that the month begins if it is possible to sight the crescent in any region of the world, provided we share with it a part of the night. This is without difference between sighting with the naked eye and with the armed eye.
We ask Allah the Most Exalted for imminent relief, victory over the enemies, and protection for all believers, for He is the Most Merciful of the merciful.
